Unconditional Is the Nature of Love

Love means unconditionally to me It never means conditionality Never down your neighbor’s leg should you pee Never use its rain as excuse, you see ......... Contentious relationships will decay Don’t just love your neighbor, love him today Keep heart and home open consistently To benefit most from love’s harmony ......... Though one’s own Agape may be sloppy No cause to pee on another’s copy Just stay with self alone if love seems gone Unconditionally await love’s dawn ......... Love never dies, or a child counts the cost When love is gone, it’s your child who is lost Unconditionally, expeditiously Agape returns conspicuously ......... Prerequisites stifle heartfelt offers Leaving you lonely with empty coffers To know true love is our Lord’s greatest gift Refuse to let squabbles cast hearts adrift
For Lay's What Love Means collaboration challenge Co-written by Carolyn Devonshire and John Freeman

Thought I'd read your oldest poem shown here - I guessed John had been involved somewhere, when I read Agape : ) Witty piece with a serious message. Many congrats on your wins too, my friend x

Very powerful stuff, Carolyn - my ex always said she offered 'unconditional love forever'...and then she dumped me LOL. Yes, Sappho was the Tenth Muse, some say. I often wish my Muse would shout in my ear, rather than whisper : ) Jack

Don't just LOVE your neighbor; love him TODAY! This is Caroloyn's modern day version of the apostle Paul's " Love chapter " in Corinthians! Thanks for writing such diverse poetry, Carolyn. You are constantly taking words to new heights. I am inspired as always! Gwendolen

Carolyn, this is a bit different from what I've seen from you previously. Nevertheless, it rhymes and conveys good descriptiveness. I think Lay will like this one as well.
