Two Fire Waka

[Two waka in memory of those who escaped California wildfires and those who didn't make it out. 5,7,5,7,7] A shower of stars? Dry forest is ablaze now. We wander blinded. Ashen snow rains on our path blocking hope to find our way. Fire rains from above? Fiery pink fish run upstream. Doe races through brush, she our guide on paths of fear, our hopes in one direction.

There are some terrific fearful moments that arise, and your description makes me pause and think about it. Thanks!! We should not take these situations that occur lightly, but not many people talk about this that often.

Yes, out here in California we keep a "two ditch bags" by the door in case we have to flee a forest fire in a hurry. Thanks for commenting on my poem.

You catch the fearful moment with a “shower of stars” and the wild running away.
