Tribute to Teachers - Constanza Upon my soapbox I protest that teachers schooling young and old, be honored like they're made of gold. How small in payment we invest with expectations raised sky high, still, underpaid we can't deny. For educators, my request, to legislate to change the laws for student ratios just cause. In government we do divest to raise the bar in public schools; give teachers much more needed tools and raise all pay at their behest! Without these changes I do fear few will want a teaching career. Upon my soapbox I protest how small in payment we invest For educators, my request, In government we do divest and raise all pay at their behest! 6-20-2018 A poem with a message ' Poetry Contest Sponsor stephen pennell Constanza Contest ~Second Place~ Sponsor Emile Pinet ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Congratulations Connie. I am surprised to know that it's not only where I live the teachers go unrecognised. It's sad to know that it happens in the other parts of the world too. I still remember my mom opposing to the career choice I made. I wanted to become a teacher and I faced staunch opposition from her who herself is a teacher. Of course, I am a teacher now. Proud but afraid if this would become the last generation of teachers.

We need teachers like you Swetha. I supported teachers before two of my children became teachers. It is a difficult underappreciated job. I do believe it is a calling. Thank you very much Swetha. xxoo

Hello Connie … my wife worked along teachers in classrooms. Anybody who thinks a teachers life is paradise needs a few re-educating lessons themselves. It is a very stressful demanding occupation that definitely needs more reward - thank you Connie - Lindsay

A wonderful tribute and the Constanza worked beautifully with this. I can just say ditto for what everyone has said about teachers. A great profession, underpaid and under appreciated for all they do and are expected to do.

When a parent criticizes a teacher, without true cause, they criticize the one who would stand between their child and harm, an furthermore the one who provides the building blocks for all walks of life. In turn a teacher is held to the highest standard to protect and teach each one. It is a great calling! Nice one!

I have a niece who is a teacher Connie, your words ring so true, teachers everywhere seem to be in the same predicament it seems. Passion for their profession and to their students seem to go unnoticed. Overworked and underpaid. So good to hear that you have two children who are educators. I sincerely hope they get the appreciation that they deserve. An amazing write....Maria hugs

Hi Connie, This is a good tribute piece to not only your son and daughter but teachers everywhere. I agree teacher's don't get treated like they deserve to be treated. They are under paid often over looked. Why? They are often the first ones to notice the future doctors, lawyers, scientists and etc. of the world. Excellent write:-) Alexis

Excellent job Connie. My daughter is an educator too but because of the low pay and long hours has opened her own preschool instead. She works for the town we live in and is one of their highest paid care givers. All the parents love her because she really does teach the children. Great job here. Bravo God Bless, JB

A challenging form and you the master of its fate. And its message resonates and rings vital truth, in short supply, so it would seem. This is lovely work, dear friend.

Bravo for speaking out Connie, no wonder there is a massive shortage in teachers and their pay and working conditions can be terrible and kudos to you and your family for being educators:-) hugs jan xx

In our country the regular teachers are well-paid. But sorry to say, in most of the cases, they cannot deliver with full appreciation, in many states of India.Regards Connie. Have a nice time.

My sister, my father and myself ate educators. I remember some good teachers and some nasty ones. The good ones are shining stars in my heart! Nice tribute! Peace & Love Matthew Anish

Connie, your poem exposes the injustice that teachers must bear. Yet, they remain dedicated to their students and profession. I had so many wonderful teachers that helped me be who I am today. I'll never forget them. I'll never understand why they don't receive adequate salaries. Great write //Warren :)

Hi Connie...I am proud to have formed part of the teaching profession, but it is not an easy one as some seem to think. As regards wages, you do well to point out that many teachers are underpaid! Best regards // paul

I agree with the sentiments..teachers deserve recognition from all branches of government and public at large, worldwide. Teachers are overworked and underpaid, worldwide. Lovely tribute Connie..best for a win.

You have highlighted a pressing concern that affects the quality of everyone's lives, though they may not realize. Until teachers are paid what they deserve, schools will continue to turn out young people ill-prepared to succeed. Florida's teachers are paid nearly $10,000 below the national average and we are 29th in student achievement. Shameful! Excellent poem, Connie. Love, Carolyn

Hawaii pays teachers $10,000 less per year than the average state wide rate, yet our cost of living almost rivals New York which is the highest teacher paid salaries. Alaska Teachers make $10,000.more per year than Hawaii. My Kids teach in California. We need more teachers who will be drawn to a teaching career when we value their skills with the pay they deserve. Thank you Carolyn. xxoo
