To My Friend, On His First Night In His Own House

To my Friend, on his First Night in his Own House ---------------------------------------- Come out tonight (Ah! Lock the gate and outer door. As it's early September And bears roam freely in these maize-crops And apple orchards-- whole nights ; Hurrying back towards the nearby forests --as they hear Adhan.) on the balcony Of this small cottage-like-house. (call your lovely wife out--as the kids fall asleep ). Enjoy, the faint full moon, and the blue starry canopy called sky; The closeby Shikargah forest's soul-soothing view. Enjoy the blows of breeze --wrapping yourselves up in a shawl. Listen to the loveliest lullaby: loud howling of fox--in the grove by the brook, And barking of the far dog. And imagine your miserable years in that rented set of rooms In that filthy town, And this first night here In your own house In this quiet green magical country .
