Time
"Time changes everything except something within us which is
always surprised by changes" - Thomas Hardy
The grandfather clock I inherited,
hangs with etched history on the wall,
by the window on the ageless sky,
still ticking with transcendent pride,
carried across waves of generations.
In the dead of night I often hear
the echo of the sliding sands of time,
falling in the hour glass of my present,
the sound fading away far into oblivion
in the depth of the canyon of my past.
And then in silence of introspection I meet
the quiet moment of reckoning,
inspiring me to set sail in the sea within,
to reach beyond the horizon infinite, the shore
of the bay of eternal bliss in my sublime soul.
