Thoughts of You

I try but to no avail. I stumble, I fall, and again I fail. What then, can I do, when I am haunted by memories of you? They are there when I open my eyes. They are there until my last sleepy sigh. Even in sleep, you sometimes appear. When I wake, you are not here. I no longer want to give you a thought, you and all of the pain that you brought. The things that you did to me, were ugly, and they didn't have to be. I know when you say you want to move on, that you already have, you are already gone. So go, live your life, however you want to. I know that I will eventually get over you. But, if ever you think of me, spare a thought to set me free.

Thank you so much! I love knowing that one of my poems touched another. It is the ultimate result. Trying to free the mind remains a constant struggle. Thank you for this kind comment.
