There Is a Way

There are those richly rewarded for their efforts, some lucky to inherit by blood, indeed count one’s wealth in abundance, live a high life superior to me. But for those less fortunate a democratic chance to climb the ladder of self-esteem, each rung a rewarding journey to reach one’s goal, when the mindset is gifted one of sensibility, the fodder of knowledge the key, to receive from life one’s input empowered in a system that is free. For a nation or indeed the world to live happily ever after is ne’er a nursery rhyme for me. © Harry J Horsman 2021

Meritocracy is a beautiful thing ... to those who are given the chance. And for the most part I think the system works out ... course there’s the inevitable unfairness of it all that’s baked it (that’s just life). For what it’s worth I don’t know if “happily ever after” is a very really realistic goal for anyone, rich or poor. Life is a struggle ... it’s up to each of us to make that struggle worthwhile. You penned a thought provoking poem. Thanks for your recent visit to my page by the way.

I don't know why My first words didn't go onto the page in my review. The first words were: Well said Harry.

l said Harry. When one strives and sweats for something he should be rewarded. I think life is like a bank account. You should be able to take out of it whatever you put into it. Good stuff, God Bless and Happy Easter to you and yours. JB

The world must come together and recognize that each human being has the right to success and freedom of life itself, given the opportunity. Great write my friend. Too true! Hugs and blessings, Jennifer.

I think we take for granted sometimes how fragile democracy really is. If we're not careful it can slip away from us. My husband was in the military and always says that freedom isn't free. A wonderful poem, Harry. Wishing you a wonderful weekend :)

- Most of us "ordinary people" ... climb many ladders through life, Harry ... I've learned, nothing comes easy - hugs // Anne-Lise :)

Democracy should forever be protected, because it allows everyone a chance to reach their dreams. I love this fine poem, Harry. :)

Indeed-the main reason i happily pay taxes is to provide free education etc but then govts just mispend the monies they forcefully gather from people I guess it could be worse with a king just taking and killing ... instead a stint in jail is what you get for civil disobedience :)

Applying yourself and never giving up worked for me Harry. And because I worked hard for it, I value it Tom
