The Promise of a Rose
terzanelle
My love, my rose, your promise I embrace
You are a mystery well-worth my lifetime.
May what lies in our dreams come face to face?
My heart holds a spot, well-secured, sublime
let me be your gardener, gifted to prune.
Your blooms I'll savor, now and on into prime.
Some flowers are anxious, others - jejune.
My rose, give me your trust to rest supine
with this gardener who desires to commune.
My soul's designed for you - one of a kind.
just knock on my gate, my hope to fulfill;
I welcome your heart to dwell in my shrine.
Together love's fragrance we will distill.
My love, my rose, your promise I embrace,
say you'll be mine and God, grant us goodwill.
May what lies in our dreams come face to face?
