The Pin Oak
The Pin Oak
(We’ve grown old together)

Softly caressed, are outstretched arms,
in sunlight bathed, a huge Oak tree.
Proudly standing, displaying charms,
for fifty years this tree and me.
Proudly planted when both were sprouts,
and through the years I've shared its shade.
An acorn factory, no doubts,
nut time squirrels and Doves invade.
Now I ponder which will go first,
for certain this thing I don't know.
Perhaps in age it dies of thirst,
should i go first think it will know?
