The Phone Call

Before I turned seventeen, the man of my dreams came walking into my world, becoming - for a short sweet time - the prince I’d been waiting for. Not from my country, he had to go back home. Phone calls and mail in one year tapered off. In just three years, I had started college, married and had a baby. Holding her one morning, I heard the phone ring. My lost prince had – too late – found me! I felt a thrill, but what could I say? Thus, I died a little inside. . . that day. Feb. 9, 2019 for Silent One's "I Died A Little Inside" Poetry Contest *Married almost 44 years now, that has made my husband my king!

Hi Andrea, This is very good and in the shape of an hourglass that doesn't detract from the emotion or clarity of the poem. Best Wishes, Anthony

Nice one. Not to worry. It sounds like you found your king.

Sounds like things were not meant to be..a gracious look back. One thing you know for sure, you have a happy life..without him.

Where do you find all of that feeling at anyway? Amassed and Surpassed As Caren's poems have all amassed, When combined Andrea's surpassed; Time to spare, By God not fair; While counting we became aghast. Jim Horn

Loved your format, as if time must pass. The king of the past is dead, long live the king of the present. Hugs.

Ouch, the pain. You have always blown me away but it is becoming more and more masterful writing that makes me high BECAUSE I felt pieces of you in the intoxicating lines. This and the Free Verse with dawn in your housecoat are both FAVS because I felt the gift of writing in you as feel-powered and wrapped by Spirit, and it felt awesome! Thank you
