Listen to poem:
The Old Store Sign The opaque timeworn words, slightly graphic upon the termite scarred wood that dangles mercilessly by unforgiving winds, neath the half-torn awning of a boarded-up, abandoned building. It suggests that there were a time, the store formerly entertained shoppers. Though what was sold there remained an ongoing mystery. life provides a theme a sign of the time whispers ... deathless consciousness *1st Place* ALL YOURS (Apr 23) ~~Brian Strand: Judged 2021 April 22 *2nd Place* Moments Of Reflections - Haibun ~~Malabika Ray Choudhury: Judged 2021 May 11

William, old signs, buildings and homes are a source of fascination for me. What is their story. Who are the people they welcomed or housed? In a way they speak aloha. Masterfully spoken pondering, my friend. Congratulations. Blessings and Aloha.

Your wonderful haibun took me on a nostalgic journey William. The place where my mother was born looks very much like this minus the weeds and it is still standing. So well expressed. Congratulations on your deserving first place. Blessings xxoo
