The Key - Contest

Rattling sound prevails As he walks the corridor Trying each cell door the inmates inside flinch ... Dreading the sound of that turning key as door opens inch by inch Thinking happier times When love heralded its own key Happy lovely days When hearts were as one, so why did I kill her in that cowardly way. She was ill, no cure, too many tears to cry I dream of a holiday by the sea Boats a bobbing as we walked the quay wall Hearts beating as one, so much in love Hand in hand we walked life's way That was our last holiday together Time has stood still, that quay, holds the key.
