The Flower Season-Anacreontic Verse
Although flowers
have fully bloomed,
there's scarce sunshine,
only rain showers
fall on them for hours.
The red hyacinths
which are cold and sad,
lament bright sunrays;
April is still cool,
spruces flutter over
the red pansies
and yellow tulips.
The sun can't break
through, it still covers
the willows with rain,
while the blue lilacs
gleam with raindrops.
The fragrant roses
drip and wait for
the butterflies
and honeybees
that hide in spruces;
beautiful insects
spring forth and fly
into the cloudless
April sky so blue.
