The Darkness There Inside
The moon hung low in darkened sky
Like Robin’s Laugh Off* ball;
Unless you saw him first perform,
That won’t make sense at all.
But seeing it just hanging there,
I think of his demise,
Of his descent into the dark,
With sad and mournful cries.
So odd that such a bright, bright light
Could feel such gloom within,
Affected so by gravity,
To hasten his own end.
How many whom we pass do wear
A brave, courageous face
While thinking in their heart they’ve made
A lasting fall from grace?
So, even when a friend seems well,
Don’t take it all in stride;
A hug, a kind word, may dispel
The darkness there inside.
