The Carpenter's Son

My manger needed mending The animals were getting loose I was chasing lambs every day Rotting wood was the excuse So I hired a man named Joseph And when the work was getting done I found a peace planted in my heart By talking to the carpenter’s son He said he would be a shepherd And that people would be his flock He was receiving guidance from up on high Through the one and the only God He had a way about him That made me believe his story His confidence contagious When speaking of his Father’s glory He said if I followed the Commandments That Moses had once brought forth We would be reunited in heaven When our lives had run their course When the manger was finally mended And Joseph and his son had up and gone I found peace planted in my heart From talking to the carpenter’s son
