The Blessings of Church Work
I take my church duties quite seriously.
Details will sound mundane and boring, I fear;
but I’m gratified and elated to be
performing the tasks I do year after year.
To me, it’s an honor to change the church sign,
to order supplies, and help serve at our meals.
When asked to be clerk, I just couldn’t decline.
I’ve found this demanding position appeals
to my ever-present attention to all
that transpires at meetings and my deep desire
to keep detailed records. If I catch one small
mistake, it’s soon gone. I’ve no plans to retire
from church work. The Lord is not through with me yet.
Like others, I do what’s required and much more.
Our pay is the “Thank you” we frequently get.
I’ll stop now. I don’t want you Soupers to snore! :)
