I am a fool's fool haunted by a feral phantom decades of loves and mutability (since "then") ... yet, it is YOU who wounds my twilight piercing the rib of my dreams to stain my waking hours with the blood of your memory voltaic skin ... lucent smile ... sugary-tart flavors of your portions all have seeped into my mind's marrow and the reveries of my slumber it is folly, I know, yet I wonder ... do such sleep-time vagaries visit you? do you find my tameless form in the nethers of night? do I still wander the mists of your meanderings? or have you expunged me from your thoughts pressed my heart like a flower ... and placed it within the ancient leaves of a love story, long-forgotten? those, questions I'd rather not have answered but keep to the dark, wild depths of the nameless lest their truth turn those yearning, soul-sad dreams ... to nightmares. ~ 2nd Place ~ in the "Feral" Premiere Poetry Contest, Anthony Slausen, Judge & Sponsor. ~ 10th Place ~ in the "A Special Secret" Poetry Contest, Lewis Raynes, Judge & Sponsor.

You've really touched my heart here, Connie, I honestly had no idea anyone would find my scribbles worth putting into print ... I must check into it soon! Thank you again, my friend, this means so much to me! <3

I yearn to have your wonderful poetry as a keepsake, inked on paper, bound in a book so that I may peruse its pages and let serendipity choose the poem as my fingers leaf through the pages and pick the perfect poem for me to read for that moment in time when I need my spirit lifted by your poetic genius. This poem left that kind of impression on me today. Cont'd.

What a wonderfully sweet and heartfelt comment, Connie - I wish I knew how to submit, (or where) ... I'm going to start digging into that soon. I'm so happy that you find my work worthy of such, as you are such an accomplished poet yourself! Thank you SO much, Dear Friend! :-) <3

Congratulations on your win. Much to ponder here. The first verse is compelling. The last verse very wise. :)

Thank you very much, Susan, I'm very happy that you enjoyed this one ... more questions than answers, really, but I think that's a core of the "human condition", and our endless curiosity about the Universe around us. Blessings, my friend! :-) <3

So many poetically inventive lines of which the penultimate verse was my favourite. Those leaves again, Gregory!

Ha! Yes, indeed, Wendy - this is an older piece, so I will defer my excuse to old habits ... at least it will always spawn a sweet comment from your sweet self, so don't be surprised if I keep it going, (that's also an excuse to cover me in the future, cuz I'm bound to forget, lol). Blessings, Dear Friend! :-) <3

Those a questions that I oft questioned after I lost a girlfriend when I was younger! Though I was only in my youth, I had really strong feelings and my emotions were easily hurt by things like this! I really enjoyed this incredible poem this evening my friend! I am impressed by your skill at writing this dark poem! Though it does take a spin towards hope when you say you'd rather not have them answered...but the nightmares, they are so horrid! You have been in my thoughts, Great Work!!

Thank you so kindly, my dear friend, you have been in my thoughts as well, and I'm so pleased you enjoyed this and could relate ... our young hearts are so impressionable, and we seem to feel things so much more deeply then, though love can be confusing as well. Blessings, Buddy! :-)
