Tarnished Reflections
So many hopes and dreams,
long faded into memories streams,
rewritten in more favorable display
of what was and how we remember it today.
Wished I could say, I was innocent
but all my endeavors were a stimulant
to those truths, yours and mine and ours disguised,
were the ultimate love often compromised.
What memory would be worth
the reflection most deserved?
The good, the bad, the ugly and indifferent
lay pushed down deep, openly blistering
of the sadder times in undiscovered hurt,
to why and when of efforts we still exert.
I loved you, loved you long and well
as long as you kept me within your spell;
yet time is to often surged
with reflected happiness disturbed.
