[Swords and Shadows was first published in Hoosier Challenger, Prairie Press Books and, later, included in "The Lady in the Pink Hat," Candor Press, 1969.]

Swords slashed where shadows stretched And silhouettes were twain, (Tall men who flowed out to meet the far horizon). They would have The sun beaten to her goal. Then the darkest eclipse occurs Whenever men reach but cannot gain When they are raped on the hone And forgotten; whe blood flows From a shadow once whole.

Such alliteration in the first couple of sentences; not easy and yet, you make it appear so. A pretty one for sure!

The stark imagism, not to mention alliterative effects, of this write are enough to raise the hair on the orneriest of hombres necks. Wow! ~ Gershon

Thanks, Gershon. Truthfully, I wrote this poem many, many years ago, and I have spent a lifetime trying to figure out what it means! (chuckle) It is, indeed, stark and a strong write.
