Sweet Bird
If I were to give all of my life to you,
Sweet bird,
Would you fly far,
Would you chirp mightily?
If I could give you all the days of my life,
My spirit would flutter with you
And see in channels of small and great
It would sing in all of earth's most sacred harmonies,
Glistening your claws with dew
It would creep through every brush
Every tree,
And kiss every egg from every hidden nest
It would cushion all your falls,
Strengthen all your offspring
With my life,
I would heighten every flight
And give peace to every night
