Summer Slipping
I feel the summer slipping from
My grasp and I am glad,
Though many others, with that knowledge,
Might be kind of sad.
I understand what so attracts -
The weather and no school,
But temps so warm just leave me cold
And, too, the beach or pool.
Give me a jacket any day
And autumn's golden palette.
A vote for longer summers wouldn't
Make it on my ballot.
So bring on cooler temperatures
And shorter days for me.
I welcome them with open arms
Though many won't agree.
