Summer Love
She was fifteen, innocent, full of herself, confident.
At seventeen he had fallen in love with her at first sight.
She ignored him the first two months of summer.
By the end of July they were frolicking together
As only young joyous happy couples can
They spent every waking moment on the beach
Watching the sunsets, wishing it would last
Each understanding that it probably wouldn’t.
