Anguish

Anguish Isn't Always Visible Late in the night a war fell, a war of midnight without a glow. He always wore a painted face. His world became shrouded in endless dark all at once. A police officer pulled him over for a broken taillight. He reached in his back pocket when asked for his driver's license; accidentally failed to grab his wallet before getting behind the wheel. The world was turned upside down, with so much anguish. Feeling he was causing more harm in the world, than good. In the middle of the floor with all his belongs he sat and hungered for the tasted of cold steel and lead. A shot was heard! This was the place of his death. Those that loved him lost so much at his passing, but were left with memories they had shared. 9/11/2017
The signs of suicide were never there. My son grew up with him so we were very close. At the time of the incident he was living with his girlfriend in their own apartment. He was working with handicapped children, and was going to college to get a degree. He had a family that loved him and wonderful future ahead of him. There was no reason for him to committee suicide.

So, sorry for your loss, Eve. It's so sad he didn't reach out for help. A couple years ago, a therapist once made me sign a contract that if i was in the middle of a suicide attempt I was to call her. I have it hidden in a frame behind one of my favorite paintings.

A very sad and heart-felt write, Eve. Sometimes there are no outward signs, but other times, perhaps we only recognise them in retrospect... (it certainly was the case for me). Regards, John.

It's a very sad thing, Eve, especially when they have so much going for them. Thanks for the note at the bottom. It makes it more powerful to know it was a true story.

reason is reason enough ... though sad that's the way life goes ... I myself had a buddy that shot his self in the head while I was sleeping in the next room ... yeah ... they go to sleep ... we are left with a word no bigger than 3 letters ... why ... ok ... guess that's it ... boo ...

This sad story brings attention to something that is often missed--sometimes the pain is so invisible. Well depicted Eve--good luck for the contest!

I know how this man felt, the devastation and the desperation, he felt alone in his own world. He felt that his whole life was crumbling around him and that he couldn't handle it, alone he thought he was, and so rejected by life. I know, cause I was there at one time myself. I survived my attempt, thank goodness, but it took years out of my life to get back to normal again. But family and friends helped out a lot...I know and understand why, indescribably why. Great poem about this Eve...thanks!

Oh, Russell, you held in a torture no one should feel and by yourself worse. My youngest son at 19 Tried to kill himself, my husband and I rushed him to the hospital. As soon as they got a hold of him of course they pumped his stomach. Then held him under suicide watch for a week. At 33 I worry so much over him because he gives his heart away to easy. I am so glad that you survived and have a wonderful lady that loves you

No one knew about me either...I was great at covering up my pain and heartache. My world was crumbling around me, but no one knew about it but me.
