1st = in Brian Strand's "SHAPE UP" Poetry Contest.


 
 
+ noone might talk but silence speaks words and when the cracks first appear they let in the the light and then the tears fall for loss but those tears are a gift and all sadness for death can be balanced by thoughts that each of our lives is a prize. acknowledgement embracement expression promotion testimony and support for the realities of now with comfort and love to find strength.

Thank you Paula. The poem was inspired (if that's the right word) by my feelings and observations during my mum's funeral. They have stayed with me for over 15 years. Cheers - Gary

Noone Might talk But silence speaks words and when the cracks appear they let the light in Without a shadow of a doubt Gary some of the best lines or versus i have had the pleasure to have read to date. Christopher, thank you so much for your words. I was actually on the point of deleting this poem when I first submitted it due to its themes of death and a funeral. It was actually our local vicar who, when visiting my dad following the death of my mum, said nothing for several minutes allowing my dad to cry and then said the four words "Tears are a gift" Those words have stayed with me and formed the basis of this poem.
