Soft, soft, I ring the bells Soft, the bluebells blooming Softer tho', her pleading eyes With each breath, consuming ... Hark, hark, I call to thee Hark, so blushes morning Hearken to her linen cheek Crimson as the borning ... Haste, haste, alas the years Haste to cut the bracken Hasten, to her dimming gaze 'For the shadows slacken ... Hush, hush, I whisper yet Hush to bide the nether Hushing now, her angel voice Gone, my love ... forever. ~ 1st Place ~ in the "Strand Special 11, Any Form, Any Theme" Poetry Contest, Brian Strand, Judge & Sponsor. ~ 1st Place ~ in the "Your Choice Flower Verse, Any Form, Any Theme" Poetry Contest, Brian Strand, Judge & Sponsor. ~ 1st Place ~ in the "Contest 565 Any Theme Or None" Poetry Contest, Brian Strand, Judge & Sponsor.

Such a very kind and honest comment, Robert, and I do not take it for granted ... it means a lot to me that you find this one special, as it is VERY special to me, and one of my best, (I believe). It flowed out like aged wine ready for the glass ... though from someplace beyond me, (I was just the tool). Many thanks and blessings, my friend! :-)

Thank you so much, Darlene, I so appreciate it - I am very fond of the flowers of early Spring - Crocuses, Daffodils, Easter Lillies, Violets, etc, and the "un-sung" wildflowers such as Buttercups, Queen Anne's Lace, and Blue Bells. Have a great evening, my friend! :-) <3

- Beautiful - Coincidence or not, Gregory ? - Perhaps people are not as free from destiny as we think - Our unconscious fantasies and desires are the things that shape what we call destiny - It's just that giving it a magical hue somehow gives us some degree of satisfaction :) - hugs // Anne-Lise :)

Oh, I agree, Anne-Lise, and while I personally believe that nothing in this Universe is happenstance, I also feel that we have very little control over anything ... or perhaps BECAUSE of that fact. It struck me also that both our poems were about the passing of a woman, and related it to bluebells. Blessings, my friend! :-) <3

Thank you very much, Connie, this one is very special, for it came from "elsewhere" ... wish I knew exactly where that WAS, though, lol. Blessings, my friend! :-) <3

Thanks so much, John, this was a fluid, joyous experience ... I wish they ALL came so easily, though I also believe they are from above, and really can not take credit. I think MOST of our creativity comes from elsewhere, and that we're granted our skills for words and insight for that purpose ... we are interpreters, if you will. Blessings, my friend! :-)

so beautiful, Greg. Congrats to you. I can't keep track of all the older poems I have already given to Brian. I just keep hoping i have enough NEW ones worth submitting to him!

Thank you very kindly, Andrea, I think I'm running out of older ones less than twenty lines, so it's encouraging me to write new, shorter pieces, ha! Plus, most people won't read the longer ones. Blessings, Buddy! :-) <3

This is simply poesy at its finest. I'm so excited to read (in response to Line's comment) that it just flowed out of you, meaning (of course) that it was coursing through your sinews, until the time was ripe to emerge. A FAVE for me too. :) gw

What a wonderful comment, Gershon, and I thank you so very much ... I think this is one of my better of late, and that it just "happened" is so cool, as I've only had a few like that, (Crow's Command, Tell the Night to Hold Me, The Ruby Spires, a couple of others) ... your comment means more than you know, my friend - may you be blessed in return!. :-)

Those are usually the best ones, as I believe this is - really proud of it, though I was just a tool for something greater. Blessings and thanks to you, Dear Poet! :-) <3

This means a lot to me, Line - this poem "happened" in just a few minutes, at a time when I had no intention of writing ... it's really cool, (and rare), when that happens, and clearly is not me, but coming from "elsewhere" - I know you know what I mean.
