15 inches of S N O W.....sub ZERO temperature...... high winds..NO SCHOOL...AHHHH
S’no Day
Beware the squeaking door
walk softly over creaking floor
distracted by that freaking snore
Oh, nightly noises to ignore
Amid hiss and click of rising heat
touch of her – ohsocold – feet
hard scratching shovels on the street
“bing” of handheld, needy tweet
Hold the quilt and blankets tight
retreat from search of cold daylight
play hide and seek – stay out of sight
conceal yourself in eyes closed night
Allow the hissing wind to blow
billowed waves of breaking snow
a recipe all winter’s know
an ever rising white bread dough
Beware the soundless quilt-scape scare
the tingling of that “no school” fear
breathless children drawing near
icy hands and feet to share
