Slow Heart Song

The morning birds outside the bedroom Announce in Spring’s insistent tones The night is done The sun is rising Come dance in step To Nature’s song We rise to greet the day together Each to our own sleep walking pace And as the curls of fog go drifting I reach to stroke her silken face The day’s begun she turns aside We make the bed each to our side Slowly touching sleep warm fingers As we drift down the hall way stair Mix with the lying smell of coffee That never tastes as good to her I settle back with cup in hand I settle back in favorite chair And as the details of the day Reclip my stunted wings I watch her do familiar things And my heart slowly sings My heart softly sings
