They say with a grin,
Too afraid to begin
Can't pick up the pen.
The words somehow seem wordless.
So you write a little at night before bed.
But you don't feel the same feeling
you use to with a pen.
The grips not too right
Kind of off
"So don't write?"
Too afraid to produce.
Too afraid of how they'll react.
So scared a part of my heart might snap.
So you close the book.
Too afraid of who might look.
But it took...
So long to write...
All those endless nights.
Where I felt pain in parts of me
I didn't know could hurt.
"**** that book."
on the brink
of burning the ink.
Stop and take a drink.
Swallow your meds over the sink.
Realize you're the ship they can't
