She Lives In the Now
Yesterday she thought her barricade was crucial,
Vague and faint but still there,
Yesterday the barricade protected all of her angst,
She thought the wall was what cared,
About what her future could be,
Keeping menacing thoughts to derail out of sight,
Her wall of hope keeping her safe from,
Defiance in the upcoming fight,
But then, before battle, her curtain of dreams lifted,
Exposing what she thought was a war,
She discovered this barricade of hope was a lie,
She couldn’t believe what we saw,
She found a freedom of happy right here and right now,
Don’t hide behind a wall like a fraud,
She found her love of real life outside,
Living life, not a dream, was reward.
