She Could Have
She had opinions but did not express them
To anyone
She could have had friends, but she did not want them
Or so she said
She could have stayed in the family but she chose not to
We figured they chased her out
She could have had a pet
She said she preferred being alone.
We rolled our eyes.
She could have been a friend,
But we were close minded about her.
She could have made an effort, and since she did not, we did not.
She could have, but she did not.
And then it was too late.
Guilty?
No.
