Shall I Compare ----

Shall I compare our ways with former days, Before our craving for more and more gain Took root and grew in us our greedy ways, Worshipping Mammon in consumer game. Hoping happiness, pursuing pleasure, Dazzled by gold our eyes now near to blind. Wanting wealth in ever increased measure, We hanker after profit of all kind, But we heed not the rule that warns of greed And which kept balance for all life on earth. In former days we simply took for need And knew it wrong to plunder all that’s worth. So long as we are here and roaming free We grab the gold, leave nowt for thee, then flee.

Not all can see the bigger picture in life and in what they write. nothing left to say except the last page of book not yet read, so empathy thought lost for good may yet resurface. Thanks for a timely post. Regards David in NZ

Many thanks for comment David. Perhaps we could learn from those former ways. But I fear we will not.

Many thanks. Maybe I learn a few things from our sonnet master. Tony.
