Drum
Safe in the cave,
from the dangers of the day,
from the dangers of being eaten by creatures,
at night in the cave the people would bang rocks
strike sticks, make fire,
and the people would drum
And like the neighbor wolves,
one howled, too, at the moon
And the people howled, too, at the moon
and the people would drum
Tales of the day,
The dangers conveyed,
of man's return from the creatures of danger,
by the guarding of the gods, by the movement of the hands,
by words, by fire,
by the sound of the drum
Safe in the cave
