Road Closed Ahead

If my love life was a highway It would be closed down for repair The road would need resurfacing There would be potholes everywhere Detour signs would give warning That the bridge ahead is out The date of its reopening Would be very much in doubt If my love life was a highway It would be stricken from every map There would be no GPS device That could tell you where it’s at And if this poem were an English test At that, too, I would fail For my grammar, just like my love life Travels on a highway to no avail
