Written for my wife, Debbie, my inspiration and my light.

When I first met you I knew it was meant to be, and I think you felt it too, and you would agree; we were meant to spend lives together, you and me; sharing all the ups and downs while singing life’s song. Before we met I had been alone ten years long searching for that someone in my heart to belong, and create together a love that was so strong, no outside influence could ever tear apart. When we came together and you gave me your heart; our love has been so strong right from the very start; like those before, I knew you would never depart, and we whispered our vows and you gave me your hand. You promised forever by my side you would stand as the hourglass of life slowly passes it’s sand; for as long as ocean waves lap upon the land, and majestic mountains gracefully reach the sky. For twenty-six years now we have been on this high; our life has been wonderful as the time went by. Your heart and soul are beautiful and that is why when I first met you I knew it was meant to be. I can't recall the requirements for Rhyme Time III, nor do I care, for this is a romantic winner. You beautifully shared your blessing in this poem, the sincerity and feel genuinely love delivered made for such an engaging poem. Again, beautiful, John. All the best ... CayCay

CayCay, thank you so much for your wonderful comments. I don't know if it will do well in the contest or not but it doesn't matter to me, just seeing my wife's reaction when she read it made it a winner for me!
