Rhyme Time Iii - Christmas

My Christmas Keeps Changing My Christmas keeps changing each decade or so! It had to be magic my first years although I barely recall it from so long ago. One decade flew by and then I was ten. It’s so nice reflecting on Christmas back then. Before I left home was my best decade when I had all my family. I’d do it again!! But soon I was married and in decade three. From the time I was twenty until thirty-three, my kids were not teens yet, so with great glee I’d have them help decorate the Christmas tree and buy them cute toys, for St. Nick I became! Those years too passed fast; it was a shame when my son got older, and found holidays all lame, and soon enough, Christmas was never the same. Just hubbie and I. Christmas then became brand new. It's fun to have grand kids to give presents to. But even THOSE years have become nearly through. My sisters live far away. There’s less and less to do! My Christmas keeps changing each decade or so. 12/20/17 For Laura Loo's Rhyme Time III Poetry Contest Topic 3: Christmas

This is a great poem. Thank you for the comment on The Year Matures. I am glad you liked the card. I will get back to Poetry Soup. I have just been busy and not too creative and took some time off. Love, Joyce

Sure like the form you choose for your rhyme, and the poem truly feels personal, from you and about you. I liked that 'glimpse' and it is a precious poem written by your most capable pen, my sweet, Andrea - you did it! Love ... CayCay (I've not moved one muscle for this contest yet - did the 5 word)

Andrea, enjoyed hearing your lifetime Christmas journey. Time to make some more memories so you have something more to reminisce about when you get to by my age :) John

A beautiful story of changes in life ...not the same when kids are grown and on their own. Many can relate to this Andrea--so well written!

Hi Andrea, Great entry for the contest. Christmas does change as the years go by. But those precious memories of christmas past are "gifts" to the soul. It looks like a winner to me. Excellent job. I wish you the best of luck in the contest:-) Alexis
