We all have our morning rituals, our day to day habits of coffee or tea, a smoke or a read of the paper. This poem tries to put that simplicity into thoughts.

Every morning we wake and sit in the sun, Warming our legs since this day has begun. Sipping our tea and having a smoke, Talking about holidays and telling a joke. One smoke becomes two and the tea becomes more, Our rush to work stands up- walks out the door. It’s a relaxing tranquil start of a day, Our own little social morning doorstep café. But then our dreams of travel and free To a distant island in a distant sea Reminds us we need to earn a buck So we pack up and leave wishing each other good luck.

True enough, and I have mine. The day starts with a cup of tea, then a cup of coffee at a favorite local café with maybe a pastry. Then it's back to my apartment and computer, waiting for my mind to dispense words for a new poem. Since I'm retired, I don't worry about earning a buck. Enjoyable read. Thanks for the stop. / M
