Reflecting Man
Evening's quiet invites a solemn space
As time's arc begins to slow its expanse
Life's traveled trails now etched in his face
And mortality's senses are enhanced
Along the road, his heart was once impaled
Left to hang on memories of the mind
Forgiveness was asked for the times he failed
With pain enduring always to remind
And yet, could he have known life more sublime
Chasing moments of his laughter's sweet guise
When passion's red fire wrote romantic rhymes
Read in splayed light from morning's sunrise
As evening falls dark replacing the light
His eyes close slowly with the dim twilight
