Re-United By a Dream
In my dream deep in the night,
You called me
After so many years
Pages of pain unraveled
But, I was back again
My strength was restored
Holding onto you tight
I could not let go
Trying hard to explain,
How it was for me then
The day they told me you died
The day, my life changed
Contorted into something I couldn’t recognize
The shock, the daze, the endless grief
The regretful unspoken words
Now, you returned to me
So clearly in my sleep, at a time of rest
To feel what it is like to be safe again
To re-live who I once was
Before the black birds cawed at your grave
Somehow we are reunited by a dream
That once again, would end
But, I know you are waiting
Beyond the night, where we will re-unite
