Precious Life

Life is most precious when tethered to birth When love becomes instant and wrapped in cloth As what is important enters this Earth And tears fall happily on newborn's Swath How precious is an innocence that's held When all that is new is yet to be found When eyelids open, a Mother's eyes meld And her heart is filled with her baby's sound Nothing is warmer or stronger than this To behold life which comes with a first breath To brush a soft cheek with a gentle kiss Knowing all days after come with no rest This jewel of life with their precious needs Held in arms cuddled as a Mother feeds 10/14/18 contest How Life is Precious

Exceptionally presented my friend and fellow sonneteer, you truly have a gift with the form that bridges the centuries and keeps sonnets alive and new.

I love how you've expressed this, there is nothing compared to the love a mother has for her newborn child. Very nice, Frederic.

You express this magic moment of birth - of beholding her baby's first breath, of holding innocence and feeling instant love with the tenderest emotion, Frederic. A poem of exquisite and intimate beauty. Best wishes for a win.. ~Susan
