Plumb The Depths

My heart is a boundless ocean
Of remembrance old and deep,
I am a creature of emotion
With my memories to keep.

My heart is a porous sponge,
Absorbing every hurt,
Prone always to plunge
To acts it cannot revert.

My heart is a giant bullseye,
Centred on life's dartboard,
Towards it the barbed arrows fly,
Tipped with spikes of discord.

My heart is a beetle under a stone,
Emerging to be squashed,
And left despised to die alone,
Its every daydream quashed.

My heart is a locked door,
I have thrown away its key,
No one can hurt me anymore,
Imprisoned I am free.

You cannot plumb the depths of my heart,
Its depth is too great to describe,
Yours is a task doomed from the start,
It is from a Plutonian tribe.
