Planting a Flower For You

Planting a flower for you in the spring Among God’s ground I wait I water you I watch and I wait I can see your roots among the dirt Spreading as if they were wings And then You pop up out of the ground A small green leaf pushing your way above Each day I care for you as if I were A bird sitting on an egg waiting for you to hatch I water I wait, I water I wait. I water and wait You have grown so tall reaching toward the sky A sparkle comes across my eyes I cannot not wait to see your beauty as the sun Touches your leaves of wings reflecting the water Upon them like tiny diamonds they appear I see your bud flowing out from the vine So precious and lovely you have become I wait and wait for your bud to bloom and then A flower you becoming a Lavender Chrysanthemum Your most favorite flower I have grown for you Today, I will place them upon your grave

Hi Bobby, I found this to be beautiful and sad at the same time. I could just picture the whole scene. I saw someone that missed the love of their life tremendously. However, as he planted that flower he expressed his deep connection to his beloved. Excellent poetry my friend:-) Alexis

Very profound, liked the last verse, and change of direction!

This seems so optimistic, then the last line so plummeting, interesting contrast-
