Notes About The Poem

10/8/2025 for One Couple of Days Poetry Contest sponsored by Charles Messina

Premiere Contest WinnerOne Fine Fish Story-OBD

One couple of days, by the deep orange sea,
a sober drunk sailor met a chaste mermaid with two legs and a fee.
Nine months later, at the ripe age of eight,
I was born right on time, though I was quite late.
My dear mother knew how to raise this orphan boy right -
I was a pacifist and always got in a fight.
Dropping out of school on a Harvard scholarship,
I stayed at home smoking as I went on a trip.
