For Oscar On His 12th Birthday

Beloved is the heart of gold cast in he whose dear life for would my own sacrifice - how quick its forge and youthful alchemy heat and cool in the pit of fire and ice! In time the tempered blade becomes the man yet I brazen youth’s mischiefs will see past when greater filled do your length of days span and wider does your gaze and shadow cast. True is the countenance fair to behold, fairer still that golden beauty unseen - hearken unto me the days of this world and let no fathered rebuke come between. Lest you want after idols of this realm seek our God and King in Jerusalem. Written: March 2012
