On Becoming Great Again
On Becoming Great Again…!
Heeding not the message
of the withering grass—
Accepting not that pluck flowers
do not bloom forever—
Continuing your ‘Manifest Destiny’
to make ‘the lie agreed upon’
a vision to be held self-evident
that all that was done…was done
to make you great: Great
in attempting to extinct the indigenous!
Great in creating a strange institution!
Now you are at it again! Heeding not
the message of the withering grass
and the drooping of pluck flowers—
Unaware that I too, am to be Great Again!
Ah, pity the fool! Your vengeance
is not mine. I am a child of the God
of the Oppressed:
Forgiving but not forgetting—Great again!
