Of Mind, Body, Soul, and Spirit

We all are souls with bodies. Some would say the soul composes mind and feelings, but are we whole sans mind and body too? I took a peek on Google for the answers that I seek. Wise men of old separated spirit from the mind, from which I.Q. and logic come, whereas spirit stood for motivation, courage, feelings, and determination. In other words, the spirit’s like our attitude, for which we need to feel great gratitude. One can have high intellect, but get nowhere. Spirit is to mind like breathing is to air! Christians take the concept further, saying souls can be self-centered. What are people’s goals? Soul, mind, and body go together, yet the spirit is a thing we must not forget. I surmise from all that I just read (learning that some souls are “spiritually” dead), sans mind and body, even though souls we all may be, those who godless die, cry out for their spirits to be free. Dear Andrea, Your poem is very insightful and interesting. We have so much confusion about soul, spirit and then there's the holy ghost, too, and spirits people see...it's a difficult subject. Thank you for the information, and congrats on a big win!! I don't think Unthinking Thinker is easy to please. I sent you Soup mail on something else...

Congrats on your win, Andrea. A very difficult topic to address with mush depth or finality. Your poem was well written and addressed the contest topic well. Thank you for your thoughts on the topic, your words are both fair and logical. A poet friend in Texas, Bill

Andrea, you have taken this complex philosophy and turned it into a poetic gem that makes it so understandable. Nice work my friend. Your ending lines will dance around in my mind for a long time. Blessings to you!

Please consider the life of a leaf; what god cares what the leaf believes before - or after - it drops? All that matters is what the leaf accumulated and dispersed. Aloha!

From bud to autumn leaf, it faced every day challenges, and all that matters is whether what it has become nourishes the earth, or contributes to its rot. Life itself is very simple, so we complicate it to amuse ourselves! Aloha!

John 14:16 Jesus answered, " I am the truth, the way and the life No one comes to the father except through me. Which means you must accept Jesus into your heart, repent of your sins, ask for forgiveness, and follow the ten commandments and read your King James Bible and learn how he wants you to lead your life. When doing these actions you will have everlasting life in heaven. Jesus loves you and he is knocking at the door of your heart, let him in and have a relationship with him through...

genuine prayer to him. You have to remember that God created a flood and all of humanity except Noah and his wife his sons and son's wives lived. He gives us a choice to choose. Sadly those that choose not to believe in Gods grace through his son, will sadly go to hell. He gives you every opportunity to do so, but he cannot make you choose. God will judge all that die. If you love God you will read the bible and learn of his ways and follow his instructions to bless you. He loves you so much and does not want any to perish, and go to hell.

What you said in your comment below Andrea.....(I do not think they are destined to hell. Maybe a type of spiritual prison in which they will be taught knowledge before the judgement day. There are way too many non-Christians on this earth to die without Jesus. He loves us all and would not condemn to hell those who were good people living a different belief system)... Is brilliant, Andrea

I had my roots in Mormonism, and they actually believe that in the end, hardly anyone goes to hell!! And they believe in "spirit prison" where knowledge is taught to those who died without it. Hmm, did you grow up Mormon too?? I think just common sense tells you that the world has far too few Christians for God to be condemning to hell all who lived on earth without being baptized! what would have been the point in creating all these "lost" souls then?

God crated man from dust and fashioned him in a body. Then He breathed on him giving a soul. It is the soul that is most important. Our choices good or bad, come from the soul but the body has its say too.

of course, the soul is most important, but by religious standards I just read about, spirit is even more important.

Some understand that all are souls Andrea That we don't become living spirits, until we Accept Jesus.. The Muslims recognise Him As Al-Mesiah I believe.? All the best with your entry '

yes, this is what my poem says. We are all souls but by christian standards, not all have spriits because they are spiritually dead to truth and God. Hope that makes sense to people??

Can we even imagine the joy that is ahead? Not pushing to go but always ready...and expectant. God is spirit. Are we not made in His Image? So much awaits, AD. :-)

it's weird how some research I did made soul and spirit separate. That's why I discussed them separately but I think many of us use soul and spirit interchangeably!

Sad to think one dies without that relationship with Jesus and the Father. We know their destination. I enjoyed reading this one. Thanks for sharing and for stopping by my blog. Sara

It's A tough one Andrea..However.' we all speak Without knowing God fully.. My input is we can say this or Think that.. Before we go to see a surgeon for instance yet On the day of the operation We must face what is fact And so it is with God, for He Will do as He wills..'
