Now Is Your Chance
Now is your chance, he said. Kiss me quick.
I roll my eyes.
One of the mushy ones, he directed me.
I won’t tell anyone.
I am hardly amused.
Who would he tell?
Our ten grandchildren or our children?
Our sons-in-law? Our neighbors? My co-workers?
They probably know that couples kiss.
I roll my eyes again.
Some things remain the same
Even after fifty years.
