Nightly Travel For Me
My eyes flutter when my wings take over
I am gone so quickly now no one notices
My body marker holds down the pillow.
Only the dog knows I am gone.
But she is used to it.
It is a nightly travel for me.
My journey away from this confining cage.
These horrible broken teeth.
No pain now.
I know I will not remember any of this tomorrow
But tonight is enough.
My soul begins the journey to nourish and refresh herself.
We see colors we had forgotten, the ones mortals cannot see
I give a howl a caw and a tweet, glad I have a beak and a wolf’s head.
I sense companions urging me on, in my astral flight.
