Often I meander down the verdant valley, Easily to descend the well-known smooth way, Occasionally I halt with stimulation overwhelmed: How exhilarating and inspiring is the feel of May. The birds whirling above the grove below. How they love to fly in and out of trees planted so wide, While here and there new-born lambs and sheep graze The luscious grass that grows on the hill side. I arrive at the grove, trees all around, such a familiar place after all those years I touch, and as expected there in the middle was the old and gnarled oak tree we loved so much. On the trunk still chiseled, a heart and our names. That's where we first met, my loving wife and I. Now that she's in heaven, I still shed a tear. For she will always be mine, living in bliss up high. 18 November 2021 Subject 9 Valley ''V'' New or Old Poetry Contest Sponsored by: Constance La France

I enjoyed reading your contest entry. I can't imagine the pain that you must feel each time there is a reminder of your wife. I know that you are getting by here on earth but I am sure you often think of her in her heavenly home. Thanks for the visits to my page. Sara

Beautiful lines Victor, I think trees have deep meaning to many of us, I know they do to me; some hold great memories within their branches. Nicely penned.

Victor, you have snatched a stunningly unique scene and powers of recall. There is a feeling of sadness, yet affection precisely never fades.
