This is quite different to what I usually post, but this is such a fabulous TRUE story that I just had to write and post it. This story holds a lot of meaning to me. This happened a few weeks ago.

MY PRECIOUS MATILDA

She has always been special to me. Even before she was born. My precious granddaughter.
Would she ever feel the same closeness for me as I do for her? Only time will tell.

I was slouched on a sofa resting my tired self, whereas all the others went outside to relax in the backyard and enjoy the summer sunshine. I was dozing off, when through my slumber I heard a soft voice;
“Papa, Matilda, poopoo”
I opened my eyes to see my two-year old granddaughter standing by the sofa with a nappy in her hand.
“Papa, Matilda, poopoo”, she repeated as she extended the nappy toward me.

There was no question as to what she wanted, but why did she come to me. She had been playing outside with the others.
She would not let her mother change her nappy.
She would not let her grandmother, my wife, change her nappy.
She came to me because she wanted me to do it.
I felt so honored. More honored than I had ever felt.
She came to me. My precious Matilda.

A LIMERICK
A lovely child came to his pappy,
exclaiming: poopoo in my nappy
He did what he had to do
a clean nappy without poo
It made both of them feel so happy.

Thank you very much. Robin. Yes, my precious Matilda will turn 4 years of age tomorrow. I had the pleasure of enjoying her company, as well as her two brothers and two sisters, over the weekend. A lovely time with the family and grandchildren. T.J

Thank you very much for your wonderful comments and continued support, Mike. Matilda is very special to me. She is one of my six grandchildren. She is now 2 years and 8 months old. Her mother rang my wife yesterday (they live 140 kilometers away so we don't see them that often), and Matilda wanted to speak to me. She said, for example, "see you again soon". She makes my heart melt. T.J

Such a precious write and Limerick, Teppo. Grandchildren are magical and their bonding to grandparents is so special. Savour all the moments you can...they grow up too fast! I love her name...Matilda. That was my mother's name, and it is special to me, but not used as much these days.

This is so lovely Teppo and I can well imagine the honour you felt. There is nothing sweeter than being singled out as the only one who will do right then for a precious child. Enjoy the many more nappy changes to come! Fiona

How precious indeed !!! I just adored your story, Teppo !! Your love for this sweet child oozes from your words, and reminds me so well of my own grand child, and how we must treasure the (even most unusual) moments. They will grow up much too quickly.....so my admiration to anyone who appreciates each little thing!!

You must be very honoured Teppo. With five children to my name, I must have changed so many nappies, that the full scope of the honour eluded me so far. And what would Sigmund Freud have to say about this and his anal pretences, when he surely never came near a baby's bum other than in his neurotic fantasies...

Thank you very much for your fabulous comments, Kai. I don't have children of my own - I have two step daughters and six step grandchildren so I've avoided changing nappies until given the honour by Matilda. T.J
