Lady

Lost in myself... feeling quite hopeless Silently you begged... to be noticed Emotions exhausted... spirits drained Histories of abuse, hidden scars... pain Fate... a reincarnation movie on Hope... all window screens gone Searching your eyes... I wondered Looking for signs... I pondered Who... in my protected treasuries Loved ones... in my hearts’ memories Fate or hope... you caught my attention Immediately... we made a connection Two of a kind... both full of doubt I took you in... you brought me out Battle of demons... never ending Changes needed... a new beginning How could we know what to expect? Silently willing to respect and protect You had to have my hand on your side I couldn’t sleep 'til I heard you sigh I miss your gentle Great Dane manners Together we discovered what really matters +++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I'd like to think there will be a special place in heaven for people who are kind to animals. Their unconditional love can be overwhelming at times. Love this poem, Susan.
